Armenian Boxers Secure at Least Bronze Medals at European Championship
The European Boxing Championship ongoing in Belgrade, Serbia, has seen Armenian representatives advance to the semifinals, securing at least bronze medals. This was reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
World and European champion Anush Grigoryan won her quarterfinal match in the 50 kg weight category against Romania's Mihaela Badescu with a score of 5:2.
European champion Ani Hovsepyan, competing in the 70 kg weight category, was scheduled to face Romanian Andra Nicoleta in the quarterfinals, but the match did not take place, awarding the victory to the Armenian athlete.
Bronze medalist at the World and European Championships, Narek Manasyan in the 92 kg weight category, triumphed over Moldova's Andrey Zaplitni in the quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals. In the earlier rounds, the Armenian boxer had defeated Slovakia's David Michalek with a score of 4:0.
Prior to this, European silver medalist Arthur Bazeyan (57 kg), Arthur Sahakyan (60 kg), Ararat Harutyunyan (67 kg), and Hamlet Harutyunyan (86 kg) also started strong in the European Championship, advancing to the quarterfinals.
The European Boxing Championship will conclude on April 28.
