Video: Citizens Block Yerevan-Dilijan Highway with Vehicles
Citizens have blocked the Yerevan-Dilijan highway with vehicles. The action is being carried out in support of the citizens who have taken to the streets in the Tavush region, opposing the border demarcation.
“Everyone needs to stand up. Each person is sitting scared; this is unacceptable. They are finishing in Tavush, they will come to Gegharkunik next, they are approaching one by one. We don’t have land to give to anyone,” stated one of the participants of the protest.
Another citizen noted that for years, concepts such as ‘Karabakh citizen’, ‘Leninakan resident’, and ‘Tavush resident’ have been instilled in people, and that is precisely why Armenia is facing multiple issues today. “We have a homeland, and we love our homeland. They say ‘What should we do, next to whom should we stand? Come out, stand next to each other; there are no party members here,” he said.
It should be reminded that the commissions on border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on April 19 to start the demarcation from the Tavush region. The description of the border sections will be compiled based on the clarifications of coordinates obtained from geodetic measurements in the area, which will be formalized in an appropriate protocol-description that the parties must agree upon and sign by May 15, 2024.
