The Leader of the Government that Declared Democracy as the Number One 'Brand' has Not Commented on the Incident Involving Samvel Vardanyan: 'Zhoghovurd'
According to the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, the incident that took place on April 15 in public transport between MP Hakob Aslanyan of the ruling Civil Contract party and citizen Samvel Vardanyan has clearly emerged as a tool of political persecution.
‘Zhoghovurd’ approached Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, asking for an assessment of the disgraceful, unprecedented violence and the case of sexual humiliation that occurred. It should be noted that on the way to the investigative service's detention facility, individuals fully dressed in black and masked pulled Samvel Vardanyan out of a police vehicle, took him several meters away into the grass, forced him to kneel, struck his head against the ground (apparently, the swelling on his forehead was a result of this incident), and began to hit him with their hands. This entire process was accompanied by sexual insults, culminating in derogatory remarks.
Moreover, the assailants demanded that Samvel repeat the sexual insults directed at him, and in the end, they spat on him. They further stripped him of his trousers while he was in a kneeling position with his hands cuffed behind his back, holding a stick or 'rubber stick' demonstratively between his legs, seemingly intending to showcase something, threaten, or intimidate him.
As the leader of a government that has declared democracy as its number one 'brand', what evaluation do you have of this phenomenon, and what steps have you taken regarding this impunity? However, in response to this question from 'Zhoghovurd', Nikol Pashinyan avoided answering and instructed to address it to the actual accomplice in the incident, the Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has responded that an internal security and anti-corruption investigation is underway. They added, 'Further information will be provided on the results.'
It appears that not only does the Prime Minister's office not read the content of questions, but they also collectively avoid responding to the specific incidents of disgraceful violence that have occurred during their tenure.
