Now They Want to Get Rid of This Situation, But It's Impossible: Aliyev

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the representatives of foreign analytical centers during a meeting, discussing the statement of November 9, 2020, while presenting false accusations against Armenia for its violations and for not providing communication with Nakhchivan.

According to Aliyev, it is impossible to evade this obligation. He stated that regardless of how the other circumstances have developed, signatures are placed under the document. Aliyev noted that Baku has had to find an alternative route through Iran.

He expressed the opinion that Armenia is supposedly obliged to provide a road through its territory to Nakhchivan, which should be secured with an international security mechanism. The President of Azerbaijan also referred to the "Peace Crossroad" initiative, indicating that an agreement should be reached with Baku to implement it.

The official Yerevan has repeatedly stated that according to the 9th point of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, the roads should operate under the sovereignty and legal authority of the parties, based on the principles of reciprocity and equality, and no issue can be discussed in a corridor logic.

"And now they want to, so to speak, get rid of this situation. But that is impossible. They are blocking the opportunity to establish road communication with Nakhchivan. Such behavior is, of course, very disappointing," Aliyev stated.
