Another Working Group Established Adjacent to the Border Demarcation Commission Including Representatives from the Ministry of Defense, General Staff, NSS, and Others

By the decision of the Prime Minister, a working group has been established adjacent to the Commission on the Border Demarcation and Border Security Issues between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The group includes representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the National Security Service (NSS), the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, and the Cadastre Committee.

The coordination of the group’s activities has been assigned to the head of the NSS department, Davit Sanamyan. The group also includes Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Hovhannes Harutyunyan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Karen Grigoryan, Commander of the NSS Border Guard Troops Edgar Hunanyan, among others. The decision is presented below.

“Based on Section 5 of Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Structure and Activities of the Government, as well as taking into consideration the Prime Minister's decision N 570-A dated May 23, 2022, on the establishment of the Commission on Border Demarcation and Border Security Issues between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, a working group has been created adjacent to the Commission on Border Demarcation and Border Security Issues between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the aim of clarifying the coordinates of specific segments of the border line between the settlements of Baghanis (RA) - Baghanis Airum (NKR), Voksepard (RA) - Ashagha Askipara (NKR), Kiranjs (RA) - Kheyrumli (NKR), and Berqaber (RA) - Kızılay Hacili (NKR) based on geodetic measurements on the ground and to create a draft of an accompanying Memorandum-Description.

In order to organize the workings of the group, relevant experts such as geodesists and cartographers will be involved.

The individual composition of the working group will be confirmed according to the annex.

The Minister of Defense, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, the Head of the Cadastre Committee, and the Director of the National Security Service are tasked with ensuring the necessary support for the activities of the group.
