EU Officials Reject Seizure of Russian Assets

European officials are stepping back from the seizure of Russian assets, fearing that such a decision could violate international law, according to the Washington Post.

It is reported that EU officials are upset with the United States for insisting on risky actions, while the majority of the frozen Russian assets are located in Europe, and Russia's retaliatory measures would primarily affect Europe.

A senior official from the U.S. Treasury has stated that all parties agree on the need to do more to assist Ukraine, but no compromises have been reached on specific issues.

Previously, bills to provide military assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, as well as to seize frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, had been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov has warned the U.S. about the responsibilities of seizing Russian assets in favor of Ukraine. He also clarified that such legislation would damage the U.S.'s image.
