Man Self-Immolates Outside Court in New York
A man self-immolated near the Manhattan courthouse where jury selection was taking place for the criminal case against former President Donald Trump, reports The New York Times.
The individual poured a flammable liquid on himself while standing in Colt Pond Park, located across the street from the courthouse. This occurred in an area of the park that was cordoned off for Trump supporters.
Witnesses and police attempted to extinguish the flames. The injured man was transported via ambulance and is currently in critical condition. CNN anchor Laura Coates covered the event live on air, stating, "I see a fully burned man." Before setting himself on fire, the young man reportedly threw pamphlets promoting anti-government conspiracy theories and criticized New York University.
The court completed the formation of the grand jury for Trump’s criminal case on April 19. It comprises 12 primary and six alternate jurors. The trial for one of the four criminal cases against Donald Trump is set to begin in New York on April 22.
