Extended Service for Even One Child to Operate in Yerevan Kindergartens
The community kindergartens in Yerevan will now offer an extended service even for a single child. This service is paid, costing 5,000 drams per month, as reported by the Yerevan City Hall.
Currently, around 100 kindergartens have extended groups. Margarit Khachatryan, the head of the Education Department of Yerevan City Hall, stated, "We have the opportunity to implement a paid extended service in all kindergartens, which provides many parents the option to leave their child at kindergarten until the end of the working day. Everyone interested can apply, keeping in mind that the service will operate even for one child."
Kindergartens also offer additional paid educational services, mainly focusing on dance, foreign languages, visual arts, and decorative arts. The funds generated are intended for extra remuneration for the educators.
This year, the Yerevan City Hall has also initiated an increase in salaries for all kindergarten staff, ranging from 10% to 30%. Salaries have been raised not only for educators but also for the entire service staff, from cooks to nurses.
Khachatryan noted, "Evaluating the crucial work of our partners in preschool educational institutions, a decision was made to review salaries. New salary scales have also been established. For instance, the salaries of educators have increased by up to 31%."
Educators working in kindergartens have the opportunity to receive additional pay through tiered salary adjustments. All educators who have participated in trainings can apply for tiered salary status.
