Taxi Driver and Another Man Rape 13-Year-Old Girl in Vardenis; Her Condition is Critical
According to Aysor.am, on April 11, several men committed sexual acts against a 13-year-old girl in Vardenis. Sources from the outlet report that a taxi driver and another man raped the girl.
“At this moment, the girl's condition is very critical, and the doctors are fighting for her life,” the source noted.
Armenia's Police Media Relations, Analysis, and Information Department head, Zarzand Gabrielyan, informed Aysor.am that on April 11, operational information was received at the Vardenis police station indicating that two men from the villages of Sotk and Akunk had committed sexual acts against a girl born in 2011. Following verification actions and undertaken measures, based on direct reasonable suspicion of having committed the crime, the men were arrested and taken to the station, where they confessed to the act and were forwarded to the investigative department along with relevant documents.
Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, also informed the media that “a criminal case has been initiated regarding the sexual violence against a minor under Article 198, Part 3, Subsection 2 of the RA Criminal Code. Charges have been filed against two individuals, and they are currently in custody.”
