Evident Hooliganism in Public Transport: Investigative Committee on Yesterday's Incident
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an investigation into an incident of evident hooliganism that occurred on April 15 in Yerevan's public transport.
On April 15, 2024, the police of the Republic of Armenia received a report indicating that between 14:10 and 14:30 on the same day, in the area of Arshakuniats Boulevard and Agatangeghos Street, an unknown individual made derogatory remarks and threats against National Assembly deputy H. Aslanyan while exhibiting antisocial behavior, grossly violating public order, and making statements promoting animosity towards a political force in a public space.
Based on the received report, a criminal case was initiated on the same day under part 1 of Article 297 of the Republic of Armenia's Criminal Code, regarding severe crimes.
At 17:15 on April 15, an individual identified as S.V. from Yerevan was taken into custody on suspicion of committing the aforementioned hooligan acts. He was presented to the body conducting the proceedings on the same day. A decision was made to arrest S.V. based on immediate reasonable suspicion of having committed the offense. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Notice: The accused is presumed innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally binding court decision.
