Cadmium Detected in Halva Products from "Timosha" LLC

The inspectors of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia's Yerevan Center conducted sampling during an inspection at "Mega Food" LLC, which revealed cadmium in various types of halva produced by "Timosha" LLC (ООО "Тимоша", Russia, Rostov Region). The products tested included:

• 250g Sunflower Halva, produced on 20.02.2024, valid until 20.10.2024
• 250g Sunflower Halva with Raisins, produced on 17.01.2024, valid until 17.09.2024
• 250g Sunflower Halva with Peanuts, produced on 23.02.2024, valid until 23.10.2024
• 110g Sunflower Kozinaki with Fructose, produced on 28.01.2024, valid until 28.06.2024
• 250g Sunflower Halva, produced on 25.02.2024, valid until 25.10.2024
• 150g Sunflower Kozinaki, produced on 25.02.2024, valid until 25.08.2024
• 200g Airy Sunflower Halva, produced on 15.02.2024, valid until 15.10.2024

The samples have been sent for laboratory examination, which confirmed that the aforementioned products do not meet the standards for cadmium as required by the Customs Union technical regulations.

The inspection body has issued a decree to prohibit the sale of these products, recall them from the market, and either destroy or withdraw them.

“Considering the public interest, as well as the fact that these products have been supplied by the importer, 'Mega Food' LLC, to other business entities, and that a recall will require some time, we urge consumers not to purchase these hazardous food products and to report any sightings of them in stores by contacting the Inspection Body hotline at 118, by emailing [email protected], or by messaging the SATM Facebook page. We would appreciate your active cooperation,” the statement added.

It is also noted that a report regarding the danger of the mentioned products has been received from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
