We Will Take Measures Without Hesitation to Protect Our Forces and Israel: US Department of Defense

The United States is not seeking direct conflict with Iran but condemns its attacks on Israeli territory. This was stated in a relevant announcement posted on the Pentagon's website.

“We do not seek conflict with Iran, but we will take measures without hesitation to defend our forces and support Israel's defense,” the publication states.

It is noted that during the attacks, American military personnel were able to intercept dozens of drones and missiles heading towards Israel.

“We condemn these reckless and unprecedented attacks by Iran and its proxies and call on Iran to immediately cease any further attacks, including those by its proxies, and to de-escalate tensions,” the report adds.

Earlier, on April 13, it became known that dozens of Iranian drones were launched towards Israel, a fact confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also confirmed the launch of dozens of Iranian drones and announced the rapid initiation of missile attacks on Israeli territory.

ABC News reported that the attack initiated towards Israel could include 400 to 500 drones launched from Iraq, Syria, southern Lebanon, as well as from the Houthi movement's (Ansar Allah) units in Yemen; however, the majority would come from Iranian territory.

It has also been revealed that US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had phone conversations amid the Iranian attacks. NBC, citing an anonymous source in the Israeli government, claimed that Biden privately expressed concern that “Netanyahu is trying to draw the U.S. deeper into a wider conflict.” Later, it was reported that Biden firmly condemned Iran's attack on Israel.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the clash between Iran and Israel and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities. He emphasized that neither the region nor the world can afford another war.
