Scholz Says When He Will Be Ready to Talk to Putin
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, stated in an interview with Tageszeitung that he is ready to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin when the Kremlin realizes the necessity of halting military operations in Ukraine and withdrawing its troops. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
"Such conversations are useful when you feel you can bring about change," Scholz said. When asked when that might happen, Scholz tried to give a vague answer: "When the time comes." Again pressed on when that could occur, the Chancellor said, "In any case, when Russia understands that there will be no forced peace, and when Putin realizes that he must abandon his campaign and withdraw his troops."
