Part of Voskepar's Kitchen and Land Will Remain in Armenia, While the House and Other Part Will Be in Azerbaijan: Tatoyan
The issue of borders cannot be detached from the individual. It directly pertains to a person's secure and safe life and their rights. This was stated by former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page.
“For example, the house of Voskepar resident Samvel Sarukhanyan is set to be divided into two parts—'Azerbaijani' and 'Armenian'—in light of mechanically and absolutely unacceptable steps proclaimed by the Government. A part of the summer kitchen and the adjoining land will remain in Armenia, while the house and part of the adjacent land will pass to Azerbaijan. The house, where Samvel's wife and daughter live, will have to be abandoned.”
This is not the only case in Tavush; other families will face the same issue. For instance, the house, its surrounding land, and garden of Artem Manucharyan will entirely pass to Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, they have built and legally occupied their homes for over 30 years, created businesses, cultivated land, and paid taxes and duties, contributing soldiers to the Armed Forces.
One cannot ignore the environment in which a person has lived and created for many years, establishing their livelihood. This is what the international boundaries process demands. It is unacceptable to deprive a person of their home and environment through political decisions, and later claim that another house will be provided elsewhere for political interests and to cover up one's mistakes.
In Syunik and Gegharkunik, the safety of communities and roads has already been compromised through GPS or Google mapping and other inadmissible methods, depriving people of the opportunity to earn family income and erase the environment in which they live. Now, the same situation threatens Tavush,” Tatoyan wrote.
