Today, Our Higher Education System is in a Crisis, Says Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the current state of the higher education system and the criticism surrounding the planned "Academic City." Pashinyan discussed the topic from the podium of the National Assembly, responding to opposition critiques regarding the "Academic City."
"No one is asking where students coming from the regions are living, where are the university dormitories? How many universities today are able to provide dormitory accommodations for students? Or is higher education only for the wealthy? Today, our higher education system, excuse me, is in a crisis; don’t you notice that?" Pashinyan questioned the opposition.
The Prime Minister accused the previous administration of acting irresponsibly in this regard. He also spoke about introducing "yard rules" into universities. Pashinyan added that this concerns not the entire higher education system but a significant part of it.
