Armenia and Georgia Reach Agreement, Says KOSTANYAN

Armenia and Georgia have reached an agreement to resume border delimitation works. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vahan Kostanyan, in a conversation with reporters.

“The governments of the two countries have agreed that the border delimitation works should be resumed, which have been on hold for quite some time. Both countries have updated their delimitation commissions. A meeting has not yet taken place. Both sides are doing some homework,” Kostanyan noted.

He expressed hope that the first meeting will not be delayed. In response to the observation that there are rumors about ceding territory from the Lori region to Georgia, the Deputy Minister answered that there will be a border delimitation process. He pointed out that the logic is to restore the border lines that existed with all neighboring countries at the time of the signing of the Alma-Ata declaration in 1991.

During the conference titled “Armenia-Georgia Strategic Partnership,” Vahan Kostanyan also stated that there have been significant changes in Armenian-Georgian relations, yet there is still much to be done within the context of the strategic partnership.
