Amiryan Street in Yerevan May Be Renamed
Julya
The Amiryan Street in the Center administrative district of Yerevan may be renamed after Ashot Ghulyan, also known as Bekor Ashot. This information has been published on the Yerevan Municipality's website.
The proposal was made by Hayk Grigoryan, a member of the 'National Progress' faction. The justification for the proposal states that since Armenia gained independence on September 21, 1991, place names named after heroes from the Bolshevik era have been changed. This process has remained unfinished.
It should be noted that Ashot Ghulyan was a participant in the Artsakh Liberation War, a hero of Artsakh, and a recipient of the 'Combat Cross' first degree. Arsen Amiryan, on the other hand, was an Armenian Bolshevik.
