Video: There Have Never Been Villages Named Baghanis-Ayrum or Nerqin Voskepar in Armenia, Says Pashinyan

The Second World War began when a peace treaty was signed between the Soviet Union and Germany, with its guarantees. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in response to a journalist's question regarding what guarantees exist that war will not start after the surrendering of four villages in Tavush during a session in the National Assembly.

"A guarantee means exclusion; such a guarantee has never existed in the history of mankind, neither does it exist now, nor will it ever exist," he said.

Referring to ceding territory from Armenia’s sovereign land and putting the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia into question, Pashinyan remarked, "I provide no guarantees because, as I said, a guarantee has never existed. I am saying what steps we must take to build our system of guarantees. I have never told any resident of Voskepar village, in any place, in any format, and I would not dare to say that we must give any part of Armenian sovereign territory to anyone. Only the people can decide on changes to the territory of Armenia through a referendum."

To the question of why Armenia is prepared to surrender four villages from Tavush before the delimitation process, given that there is no agreement on which maps will be used for this, Pashinyan replied, "It is absolutely false and a fabrication that even 1 millimeter of territory from Tavush Province is under dispute; such a thing cannot exist. This is a lie propagated by certain anti-state forces for the purpose of gathering political points. "

When asked whether the few kilometers from the Armenian settlement to the area where Azerbaijanis will stand does not pose a threat, Pashinyan said, "In Kapan, the border is a few meters away; we are talking about security, but there have been and still are Aygehovit, Berkaber, and Aygepar villages just a few meters away. We are discussing the security system and the creation of a state border."

According to Nikol Pashinyan, no process can begin until it is agreed upon which maps the parties will follow. "There have never been villages named Baghanis-Ayrum or Nerqin Voskepar in Soviet Armenia and in the territory of Armenia. There have been and will be villages named Voskepar and Baghanis," Pashinyan stated.
