Russia Prevents Armenian Dairy Products from Importing, But Their Goods Sell Freely Here – Gabrielyan

Are we creating a body that allows any economic operator to import goods into Armenia independently of the established EAEU standards? This question was raised today in the National Assembly during the discussion of the draft amendments to the Law on State Duty by Sisak Gabrielyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction.

Continuing the matter, he stated, 'For example, Russia is currently not allowing our dairy products to go to their market, while their dairy products are coming to ours. Will this draft address the question of whether we will continue to keep this market closed for our Armenian producers, while their products are sold in our stores without any obstacles?'

Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan noted that currently, feed additive cargoes are stranded at the border and cannot be imported, and this draft regulates that issue, whereas the matter concerning milk and dairy products is not addressed in this draft. 'This draft is concerned with feed additives, regulates the legal framework, and according to the EAEU regulation 317, the product must be registered in the member countries to be allowed for import. At the moment, cargoes are halted at the border, this draft regulates that issue, but the regulation concerning milk is not defined in this draft,' she said.
