Edita
On the eve of the end of Ramadan, unidentified individuals have shot at a mosque located in Cherbourg, northern France, according to France Bleu radio. On Monday evening, police discovered bullet traces on the facade of the mosque, and nearby, cartridges of an unknown caliber were found. Security measures around the mosque have been strengthened.
The Manche prefecture has expressed support for the Muslim community of the city, highlighting the law enforcement agencies' "full readiness" ahead of the celebration of the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr.
In November 2023, death threats had been painted on the fence of the same mosque targeting Muslims.
