It’s a Clear Lie that the General Staff Suggested Starting Demarcation from Tavush, Ohanyan
Yesterday, statements were made claiming that the demarcation was suggested to start from Tavush by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia. I believe this is a clear lie, stated Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the Armenia parliamentary faction, during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly today.
“Because the demarcation is first of all carried out by the state’s military-political leadership. They must understand that our level of defense in the Tavush region, the engineering equipment, is quite high and has been formed over the years to ensure the security of Tavush. These villages are Armenian and are under our control. At the same time, there are considerable areas in that region under Azerbaijan's control. To speak as if these are Azerbaijani settlements, when Azerbaijan today occupies around 200 square kilometers of Armenian territory, indicates that our authorities do not understand what demarcation and delimitation are and are proceeding with unilateral concessions,” he noted.
He also expressed concern about carrying out partial demarcation and delimitation, as it is a unilateral demand.
