Russia to Demand Gasoline from Kazakhstan in Case of Deficit: Reuters
Russia has agreed to import 100,000 metric tons of gasoline from Kazakhstan for its oil refining plants in the event of a deficit caused by Ukrainian attacks. This was reported by Reuters, citing three sources in the industry.
Belarus has already agreed to assist Russia with gasoline supplies, according to the agency. According to March data from Rosstat, gasoline production in the Russian Federation has decreased by 14.3% year-on-year. This decline is attributed to attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refining facilities.
CNN notes that these attacks are proving more effective than European sanctions, as they target fuel processing facilities that cannot be restored without expensive Western equipment.
Starting March 1, 2024, Russia resumed its ban on fuel exports, yet gasoline prices continue to rise on the stock market.
