Lavrov Highlights Most Rational Plan for Resolving Ukraine Conflict
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the conflict resolution plan proposed by China for Ukraine is the clearest and most reasonable among existing proposals.
“An even clearer plan was presented by China last year, offering 12 points, which they refer to as a package of principles and approaches. Our Chinese partners mentioned that they wish for all participants to agree on these principles,” Lavrov told reporters.
He noted that unlike Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's “peace formula,” which Russia rejects, all 12 points of the Chinese plan are interconnected. “For us, the most important aspect is that the Chinese document is based on an analysis of the causes of what has transpired and the necessity to address the root causes. It is structured from the general to the specific,” Lavrov said.
He added that some countries have criticized China's initiative, mentioning that “this program has been critiqued as being vague, but it is a rational plan that the great Chinese civilization has proposed for discussion.”
