Yerevan Has Made Decisions on Nagorno-Karabakh Under NATO Influence, Says Zakharova

Yerevan has made decisions regarding Nagorno-Karabakh under NATO influence, while claims that Moscow and the CSTO did not help Armenia during the escalation of the situation in the region are false. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a broadcast of the Russian TV channel ‘Zvezda’.

“This is not true; it is a lie. That decision was made by official Yerevan after consultations with the West. I accuse of lying all those who believe and promote this idea. It is not true; it is a lie. It was the decision of official Yerevan made after consultations with the West. I accuse of lying all those who preach and disseminate the idea of Russia and the CSTO’s guilt for the decisions made by Yerevan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh,” Zakharova stated.

According to her, Western countries have advanced the theme of Armenia’s official withdrawal from Nagorno-Karabakh. The rights of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh have not been incorporated or guaranteed in any of the documents that were signed under NATO pressure.

Zakharova also noted that the new escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan depends solely on how much official Yerevan allows the EU, the USA, and Britain to influence the situation in the region and the country in a destructive manner.
