Video: Father-in-law and Son-in-law Arrested for Illegal Tobacco Resale
The community police of Ashtarak received information that a 63-year-old resident of the village of Bazmabuyr was engaged in illegal entrepreneurship, acquiring and selling a batch of tobacco subject to licensing.
During the verification of the information, it became clear that he was receiving tobacco without excise from his son-in-law, a 41-year-old resident of Ashtarak city.
On the morning of March 20, minutes apart, the father-in-law and son-in-law were arrested and taken to the Ashtarak police department. The son-in-law admitted that he had given the tobacco to his father-in-law. He also reported that since last year, he had been purchasing tobacco from unknown individuals near the Meghri customs, regularly buying a block for 2200-3000 drams and reselling it for 3-4 thousand drams. According to him, he had last given his father-in-law 80 blocks of tobacco three days ago.
A criminal case has been initiated, and during searches conducted on March 22, the father-in-law presented 70 blocks, while the son-in-law presented 3 blocks of tobacco without excise stamps. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances.
