VIDEO: Death Toll Rises to 29 in Istanbul Fire
At least 29 people have died as a result of a fire that broke out at the Masquerade nightclub in central Istanbul, according to reports from Anadolu and BBC News. One additional person has been injured.
The fire ignited on April 2 during renovation work inside the nightclub, which is located in the basement of a 16-story residential building in the Beşiktaş district. A total of 31 fire trucks and 86 rescuers participated in the firefighting efforts.
Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
