VIDEO: "18-Meter Buses Meet Transport Network Demand" - Avinian

Mariam Z.

The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinian, has announced that contracts for trolleybuses and 171 new buses are in the final stages of signing. According to him, these vehicles are set to become an important part of Yerevan's transport network.

“It is also very important to continue acquiring 18-meter buses, as the service life of the HIGER brand buses will expire in 2025,” Avinian stated. He assessed that these buses have served Yerevan well, but they are now morally worn out. “Probably half of the fleet is no longer in service.”

According to the mayor, the overall rolling stock of private routes is also old and in need of replacement. He emphasized that 250 units of 18-meter buses would adequately meet the demand of the transport network. “This year, we plan to establish new bus routes that will be related to several important new directions. I also want to emphasize that the introduction of bus routes in Yerevan will significantly reduce people's travel times. This is a proven fact. Of course, there may be some inconveniences for individual drivers, but those who will use public transport will be able to move from Point A to Point B in significantly less time.”
