New Rules for Calculating Fees for Cars Imported from EAEU Countries to Russia Take Effect
As of April 1st, new regulations for calculating import fees for vehicles imported from EAEU countries to Russia have come into effect. From now on, unpaid taxes and fees resulting from the reduction of the customs value of vehicles imported to Russia from EAEU member states will be included in the export fee.
This decision aims to create equal conditions for citizens and companies importing vehicles cleared in EAEU countries into Russia and those undergoing the process within Russia while paying all necessary taxes and duties.
Moreover, the customs clearance procedure for electric vehicles imported from EAEU countries must now be carried out in Russia.
Previously, importing vehicles with reduced invoices through several EAEU countries posed significant risks for buyers. For instance, importing cars from Kyrgyzstan was attractive for legal and physical persons due to favorable customs clearance conditions; the difference in customs clearance costs between Russia and Kyrgyzstan could amount to 1.5-2 million rubles.
