Azerbaijan and Russia Are Acting as One Front - Gagik Melkonyan

It seems to me that Azerbaijanis are preparing some ground, because there is actually no movement of troops on our side; we remain as we were standing at the borders. This was stated by Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the Parliamentary group 'Civil Contract', in an interview with NEWS.am, commenting on the misinformation spread by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, claiming that the Armenian army is accumulating personnel, armored vehicles, and artillery systems, and that an active movement is taking place.

'They are simply worried about the tripartite meeting scheduled for April 5 between Pashinyan, Blinken, and von der Leyen. I do not know why this concern has entered their and Russia’s minds. The Russian Federation constantly makes statements that if the EU interferes, the situation here becomes destabilized. And Azerbaijan echoes Russia's words. They are acting as one front, and there is fear in them; I do not know why,' he said.

In response to the media's question about whether the spread of such misinformation poses a danger of large-scale attacks, and how likely it is, Gagik Melkonyan answered: 'I do not consider that there will be such a danger in the near future. They are simply preparing the ground for the future. At this moment, I do not see that danger. We are used to such statements; they have always been made. After the arrival of EU observers, the shootings at the borders seemed to stop because Azerbaijan's statements were becoming unfounded. The EU observers see that there is no movement of troops.'
