One of the Officials Arrested from the Ministry of Economy Will Be Released
Taron Martirosyan, the head of the Agricultural Programs Implementation Department of the Ministry of Economy, who was arrested in connection with the 'Intensive Orchards' case, will be released. This was reported by Martirosyan's lawyers Arsen Sardarov and Gurgan Nersisyan.
The Anti-Corruption Criminal Court of Armenia, presided over by Judge Tigran Davtyan, completely rejected the pre-trial body's request to extend Martirosyan's detention during the hearing on March 27. 'During the discussion of the request, the defense presented facts to the court that fully revealed the lack of grounds for holding T.M. in detention,' the lawyers wrote.
According to them, after the criminal prosecution was initiated against Martirosyan, the lawyers conducted a parallel investigation. Within this framework, information has emerged that, according to the lawyers, fully proves Martirosyan's innocence.
On February 5, we reported that Taron Martirosyan was also arrested and detained in a criminal case regarding the abuse of official powers by officials of the Ministry of Economy. It should be noted that on January 31, the National Security Service and the Investigative Committee conducted raids at the Ministry of Economy and several residences (in a total of more than 15 locations) and arrested 7 individuals, including Ani Gevorgyan, the wife of the brother of the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonian, Lili Mkrtchyan, the business development manager of the 'Sinergy' company, and Ashot Hovhannisyan, who were later detained.
