Justice Minister Addresses Constitutional Amendments
The Minister of Justice of Armenia, Grigor Minasyan, addressed constitutional amendments during a conversation with journalists after the report on the implementation of the Government's program (2021-2026) for the year 2023 in the National Assembly.
He noted that the Prime Minister has brought new ideas to public discussion.
“We have a preliminary new concept that we have sent to the Government, and we are now waiting for the Prime Minister and the Constitutional Council Commission meeting. After that, we will present through public awareness whether there have been changes in our directions and what we are planning,” the Minister stated.
According to him, there has not yet been a discussion regarding the preamble of the Constitution of Armenia.
“Apart from the section that has been, there have been no other discussions, and as a result of ideological reflections on what new directions we are planning, the Council on Constitutional Reforms will present. We are carrying out internal work. The articles in which we have identified issues are currently undergoing internal monitoring and analysis, but the Constitutional Reform Council has met only once, and we decided to discuss the Prime Minister's proposals,” said Minasyan.
He emphasized that the matter of constitutional reforms is not in suspended status; rather, further work is being synchronized with the situation following the Prime Minister's public address.
