A Sports Management Center to be Established: Proposal by "Pahst"
The newspaper "Pahst" reports that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports is proposing the establishment of a Sports Management Center LLC. The company will implement various programs aimed at the development of sports.
The project presented for public discussion indicates that currently, there are a total of 174 youth sports schools operating under state and community jurisdiction in the Republic of Armenia, including 4 sports NGOs with their own infrastructure. However, according to the ministry, these cannot be managed by the Sports Management Center as public subunits (PSUs) and community organizations (COs).
Currently, there is no training and sports center that can coordinate existing and future sports facilities in the republic. The sports complex located at 41 Manandyan Street, including the sports field and adjacent gyms, is not being utilized to its full capacity. Therefore, the Sports Management Center should become a unified specialized management center that will oversee the construction and management of sports facilities being built in the republic, including gymnasiums with rapidly deployable lightweight structures planned for each province, multi-purpose sports complexes outlined in the physical culture and sports strategy for 2023-2030, a wrestling training base to be built in the village of Shamout in the Lori province, and other sports facilities to be constructed.
A management council will be created, which will include the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the deputy minister coordinating the sports sector, one representative each from the ministries of finance, territorial administration and infrastructure, as well as from the sports community. The council will elect the head of the executive body and grant him a quota for commercial activities.
In the first phase, the company will take over the sports complex located at 41 Manandyan Street and the sports facility named after Simon Martirosyan being constructed in Jrarat. Later, it will also include other multi-sport complexes that are being built or will be built.
The company's income will arise from the rental fees of the mentioned sports facilities, remuneration from paid sports groups, as well as from the organization of sports events and gatherings of various sports disciplines.
