German Scientists Test Space Suits in Armenia Near Azerbaijan and Turkey Borders

Scientists from the University of Würzburg are testing space suits and robotic equipment designed for use in space within Armenia. This is reported by the German newspaper Bild.

The geography of Armenia is similar to that of Mars, according to the German researchers, which has led them to decide to test robots there for future space missions, the article states.

The experiments are being conducted in the village of Armash, located near the borders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, where the scientists will remain until early April.

The project involves specialized robots that scan the area and create a three-dimensional map of the terrain. The space suits being tested by the researchers are designed to function at temperatures as low as minus 133 degrees Celsius.

More than 200 scientists from 26 countries are participating in the project. Six 'analog astronauts' will test equipment aimed at detecting signs of life on Mars, while also testing robots in Armenia that will create a 3D map of the region, collect soil samples, and transport heavy loads.
