Video: No Potholes, People Are Pressing the Gas, Says Interior Minister
In 2024, we have a decrease in traffic accidents compared to 2023, including accidents with fatalities and injuries. This was stated today by the Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Defense and Security Committee.
“We have a decrease in traffic accidents by 54 cases, a decrease in fatal accidents by 6, and a decrease in injuries by 110. This figure is quite good for the last 10 years. This year we also declared it the year of fighting traffic accidents. I agree that today drivers lack the ability to drive. The last incident on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, which claimed the lives of 4 people, was something I had never seen before. The car flew into the opposite lane and split in half. It was horrific. Of course, the cause was speed,” said the minister.
According to Ghazaryan, one of the reasons for traffic accidents is the quality of the roads. “There are no potholes, people are pressing the gas. Also, in 2023, more cars entered Armenia than in 2021 and 2022. Only from Artsakh, 20,000 cars entered,” he noted.
