“A little while ago, Narek Samsonyan was arrested in a very forceful manner.” This was reported by lawyer and human rights defender Ruben Melikyan. He noted that he does not have any further information at this time.

“Masked police officers and individuals in civilian clothing brutally attacked Narek Samsonyan and took him away; it is currently unknown where they have taken him,” a message accompanying a video was published on the Telegram page of public figure Narek Samsonyan.

It is noteworthy that Narek Samsonyan is the president of the NGO “Civil Consciousness.”

The press secretary of the Investigation Committee, Gor Abrahamyan, stated: “Considering the abundance of oral inquiries, I find it necessary to inform you only that N. S. has been arrested within the framework of a criminal case being investigated under the first and third points of the second part of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code. The RA Investigation Committee will later provide an announcement.”

It is worth mentioning that this article of the Criminal Code pertains to hooliganism. The first and third points of the second part refer to hooliganism committed by a group of individuals using information or communication technologies.
