Alen Simonyan and Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Meet in a Constructive Atmosphere

The President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, on March 22, during the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Geneva.

This meeting was organized with the initiative and mediation of the IPU. The discussions focused on the potential support that both countries' parliaments could provide to the ongoing peaceful negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Both parties agreed to explore the possibility of dialogue at the inter-parliamentary level. The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere. At the conclusion of the meeting, the leaders of the parliaments of the two countries issued a joint statement.
