VIDEO: There Are Numerous Maps That Constantly Need Modifications, Says Kocharyan

The selection of maps is the most complex issue that must be tackled during negotiations, as there are numerous maps that constantly require modifications. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a briefing at the National Assembly while discussing the delimitation and demarcation processes in Tavush.

'Since the riverbed may change, there may be changes related to mountains, and mining activities alter the natural representation even on paper, meaning that maps are always changing. Currently, a program is being implemented to delineate the state border in segments. During this time, the topic of maps is not as prominent as the notion that Armenia is conceding its territory. Armenia has nothing to concede. The current government of Armenia operates on a simple principle: what is ours is ours, but this must be documented within the framework of a bilateral agreement. The opposing side must also accept this.'

Kocharyan emphasized that it is frequently suggested that we are moving toward these solutions unilaterally: 'Absolutely, it cannot be unilateral. We still have a way to go to determine what is ours and what is theirs,' he said.
