VIDEO: "All of This is Incompatible" - Scientists Stage Protest

Employees of the Institute of Organic Chemistry are staging a protest near the government building. They express their dissatisfaction over the inability to work due to the construction of a multi-apartment building next to their institute.

The residential building is being constructed next to the Scientific and Technological Center for Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, which combines three entities: the A. Minasyan Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry, the Institute of Organic Chemistry, and the Center for Molecular Structure Studies. The construction permit was granted by the Yerevan City Hall on December 29, 2023.

“Drilling works have already begun, there are vibrations, noise, and dust, which is why we cannot conduct our scientific activities. All of this is incompatible,” said one of the institute's employees.

“The drilling has already started, and due to the noise and vibrations, we are unable to carry out our scientific work. Construction and scientific activities are incompatible. The institute's area has turned into a construction site, and soon a crane will be installed, which will completely disrupt our work,” said Sahak Gasparyan, the director of the Institute of Fine Organic Chemistry, during an interview with journalists.
