And now the same situation will arise in Tavush: Tatoyan

It is unacceptable to instill panic and despair among one's own people, to create a sense of helplessness, and then to threaten the population with war while bowing to Azerbaijan in order to secure a 'delimitation' in their favor.

This was stated by the former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on his Facebook page.

“One cannot separate the security of the borders from that of the individual. Security is primarily for the person, and that person receives this security through rights guaranteed by their own state, from a dignified and secure life, access to drinking water, the right to property, and freedom of movement. Security and human rights are fundamental in international processes related to the determination of state borders.

Look at the situation in the border villages of Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Gegharkunik—people are living without basic rights, without a secure life, deprived of land and water. And now the same situation will arise in Tavush.

In the border villages, people are barely managing to cultivate the already limited lands, constrained by Azerbaijani occupation, to earn an income for their families, and now Azerbaijani armed forces are being brought close to the villages of Tavush.

What does it mean to ask 'where is our territory?' or 'can you show our territory?' or 'to respond to the question of withdrawing Azerbaijani troops from our territory, we need to establish which is our territory'? How could the country be brought to this state, strengthening Azerbaijani positions in legal and diplomatic matters with one's own [and the team's] statements?

For the sake of personal and team interests, constantly denying Azerbaijani crimes gives them the opportunity to strengthen and now intimidates the population with the fear of war into accepting Azerbaijani advances and new suffering.

Under these successive mistakes, Azerbaijan will continue to insist that it does not recognize the 'fixation' of your borders. It turns out we must constantly concede—while justifying it by referring to some 'historical' encyclopedias.”
