Zahharova: We Also Consider Them as Retribution
The unfriendly actions of Chișinău, including the expulsion of a Russian diplomat, will not go unanswered from Moscow. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The information was reported by TASS.
"In Chișinău, there is an obvious abuse of the status of the hosting party in UN-related events, which puts into question the Moldovan authorities' ability to act in that capacity in the future. Chișinău's actions will not go unanswered by the Russian side," the ministry noted.
According to Zakharova, Moldova's recent anti-Russian moves, including the declaration of a staff member of the Russian embassy in Chișinău as 'persona non grata', have become a form of retribution for conducting presidential elections in the territory of Transnistria.
“These decisions are part of an anti-Russian campaign carried out by the Moldovan leadership and serve as further confirmation of its course towards the complete destruction of historically deep-rooted Russian-Moldovan relations. We also consider them as retribution for allowing Russian citizens residing in Transnistria to express their will in the Russian presidential elections,” the diplomat stated.
