It has become a tradition to come to this podium and speak about the famous book “Spymaster” by Oleg Kalugin, the former head of Soviet KGB counterintelligence. This was stated today by MP Vahagn Aleksanyan from the Civil Contract faction during the announcements hour in the National Assembly, who brought the book with him.

“I especially recommend our fellow members from the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun to read the book in its entirety. But go straight to page 221. In this book, the head of Soviet KGB counterintelligence recounts how, in the 1970s, the Soviet KGB infiltrated so many agents into the ranks of ARF that it became completely manageable by the Soviet KGB. This continued later, according to Mr. Kalugin.

The entire absurdity is that the representatives of that specific force, about whom there is clear evidence and testimonies, come to tell someone that you are an agent, you are a traitor, you are anti-Armenian. This only brings laughter and smiles from our side. Hearing such accusations from representatives of an agent party means that you are doing something good for your homeland. Because if an agent party is hostile towards you, it means you are doing things right, you are working correctly.

Our opposition has clearly stated through Robert Kocharian that he is at least not against entering a union state with Russia and Belarus. Before that, in 2021-2022, they were telling us that we promised to provide a corridor, and we keep saying that there is no such thing. It reached the point where in 2024, prominent Republican representative Eduard Sharmazanov said, ‘Well, why didn't they give it? That's why what happened with Nagorno-Karabakh happened.' Now I say that the next protests of the opposition, which we will see with these warming trends, will have two hidden demands: to provide a corridor to Azerbaijan and to incorporate Armenia into a union state with Russia and Belarus,” announced Aleksanyan.
