Next Cyclone Approaching Armenia: What Weather to Expect
As forecasted, due to the penetration of a powerful cyclone from the south, heavy precipitation has been observed throughout the Republic, with snow falling in Shirak, Lori, the foothills of Tavush, as well as in the mountainous regions of Ararat, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and in the mountain and foothill areas of Syunik. This information was reported by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center.
Currently, the maximum snow depth is 151 cm near the summit of Aragats, 72 cm in Amberd, and 56 cm in Jermuk, while other mountainous areas have 10-40 cm of snow. Precipitation continues throughout the country and is expected to last until noon on March 20, after which it will briefly cease.
On March 21, the next cyclone will approach us from the Mediterranean region, resulting in precipitation resuming in most parts of the country. Snow will fall at elevations above 1500 meters, while lower areas will experience rainfall.
