Surmalu Trade Center Has Been Closed for Nearly 3 Weeks
The Surmalu Trade Center remains closed for nearly three weeks due to regulatory measures.

The Surmalu Trade Center has been closed for nearly three weeks. In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, Elena Zohrapyan, head of the Public Relations Division of the State Inspection Committee for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety, confirmed the information. According to her, the shopping center is sealed by enforcement officers.

“Last year, during January and February, inspections were conducted in all major shopping centers, which revealed several violations, leading to closure decisions and issuance of orders,” Zohrapyan noted.

After rectifying some of the violations, the centers applied to the inspection authority for permission to resume operations. In February of this year, re-inspections were carried out. Violations of the orders were discovered at Surmalu, and it was found that in some cases, existing issues had only been partially addressed.

On February 20, a decision was made to close the center, providing time to rectify the violations. After these issues are resolved, the trade center will apply to the inspection authority again, and a re-inspection will take place, after which a decision will be made whether to permit the resumption of operations or not.
