According to the statistics published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia in January 2024 regarding mortality by primary causes of death (based on civil registration acts of death certificates), the highest number of deaths among the population is due to circulatory system diseases. This is reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'. In 2023, 1,375 people died from this condition, while in 2024 this figure increased to 1,488, an increase of 113 people.
Following circulatory system diseases, cancer-related deaths occupy the second position on the list of causes of mortality. Here too, the numbers are rising: in 2023, there were 446 deaths, whereas in 2024, this number increased to 460, reflecting a rise of 14 cases.
The third category includes deaths due to respiratory organ diseases. Last year saw 268 deaths attributed to this diagnosis. However, compared to the previous two years, this year there has been a decline: during the same period this year, 249 people died, which is 19 less.
Following these categories, deaths from digestive diseases, infectious and parasitic diseases, and other ailments are recorded. It is worth noting that last January, three individuals died from the Covid-19 virus, but this year, there have been no reported deaths from this infection.
