Shooting Incident on Fuchik Street: Details of Injuries and Investigation

At approximately 00:18 on March 15, 2024, the Police of the Republic of Armenia received reports from citizens about gunfire and an explosive device being thrown on Fuchik Street in Yerevan, resulting in an injured person. Additionally, an unknown citizen reported a person with gunshot wounds on the Ashtarak highway.

This information was confirmed by the Investigative Committee. Later, it was reported by the Armenia Medical Center that a 1995-born resident of Ararat Province was transported to them with shrapnel injuries and diagnosed with "polytrauma." Furthermore, the Heratsi Number 1 University Hospital reported treating a 1986-born man from Yerevan who sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Based on the aforementioned reports, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia initiated a criminal case under Article 44-155, parts 7 and 8, along with Article 297, part 3, and Article 335, part 1 of the Criminal Code. A special investigative group was formed, and a preliminary investigation is being conducted.

During the inspection of the traffic area located between buildings 11 and 13 on Fuchik Street, various blood-like stains were found, remnants of an exploded grenade, and numerous cartridges from fired bullets. A mask and other items were also discovered. Memory cards from surveillance cameras present at the scene have been seized. A series of expert examinations have been appointed.

Thanks to investigative and operational measures, information regarding the incident and the individuals involved has been obtained, which is being verified by the investigation. Given the particulars of the case, the criminal proceeding has been forwarded to the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Yerevan for further investigation. Immediate investigative actions and operational measures are underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, identify all individuals involved, and provide legal assessments of their actions.
