No Agreement on Withdrawal of Lawsuits Against Azerbaijan: Mirzoyan

There is no agreement on the withdrawal of lawsuits filed against Azerbaijan in international courts. This was stated by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today during a session of the National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee, where he presented the government's performance in 2023.

"There is no agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the withdrawal of claims filed against each other from international courts," said Mirzoyan. He added that there are various discussions on different issues with the understanding that they can become part of the overall situation and environment. According to him, if one side takes a step, the other side will take a second step.

He emphasized that any action will be coordinated and publicly discussed in the context of overall diplomatic efforts. Mirzoyan countered the statements of Kristine Vardanyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, stressing that the Armenian leadership has never said that the ratification of the Rome Statute was for the purpose of suing Aliyev.

The head of Armenia's foreign ministry emphasized that such formulations have never been expressed by Armenian officials. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan could withdraw international claims against Baku on the basis of reciprocity when the peace treaty is essentially ready.
