More Than 50 People Die in Angola During Witchcraft Purity Test
In the municipality of Engels in Bié Province, more than 50 residents accused of witchcraft have died during a verification process that forced them to drink a liquid of unknown origin. According to reports from AFP, local elders compelled the detainees to prove their innocence from witchcraft and dark forces.
“They were forced to drink a mysterious liquid which, according to community elders, is capable of revealing whether a person practices witchcraft or not,” confirmed Luzia Filemonen, a municipal worker.
Local authorities have reported several similar incidents where those suspected of witchcraft have been subjected to a fatal “test.” Investigators are determining what precisely the unfortunate individuals were compelled to ingest.
