Georgia's Parliament Rules Out Saakashvili's Extradition to Ukraine

The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Giorgi Volski, has deemed it impossible to extradite former President Mikheil Saakashvili to Ukraine, as demanded by the Ukrainian authorities. This was reported by TASS.

“How can a person wish to extradite someone (Saakashvili - Ed.) who has committed a crime in your territory? I am certain that in Ukraine he will join his party ranks, and no one will hold him accountable. On the contrary, he will be awarded for illegally crossing the Ukrainian border,” Volski told reporters.

The First Deputy Speaker commented on the statement made by Davit Arakhamia, the head of the ruling “Servant of the People” faction in the Ukrainian Parliament, which suggested that to normalize relations with Ukraine, Georgia should stop air communications with Russia that resumed in 2023 and release Saakashvili from prison.
