Armenian Authorities Prevent Artsakh MP from Crossing Border; Sent Back from Zvartnots Airport
Armenian authorities are not allowing Artsakh lawmakers to cross the border into Armenia. This is reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd.'
In particular, Artsakh MP Gegham Stepanyan has found himself in this situation, as he was sent back from Zvartnots Airport and prohibited from crossing the Armenian border. According to reports we received, the reason is related to a specific criminal case.
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper had previously reported that Artsakh National Assembly deputies are being summoned one by one to the Investigative Committee for questioning. According to our information, Armenian law enforcement is asking parliamentary representatives about recent events in Artsakh, particularly the reasons behind the resignation of the former president of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, who was unlawfully detained by Azerbaijan, inquiring about who might have pressured him to resign.
As we were informed, so far, deputies from the ruling faction of Artsakh, those affiliated with Araik Harutyunyan's 'Free Motherland - ARF' group, have been interrogated.
We attempted to clarify this information directly with Artsakh MP Gegham Stepanyan, but our calls went unanswered.
