Turkey and the US Plan to Work Together on Peace Agreement Between Baku and Yerevan

Turkey and the United States have committed to jointly work towards a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

The announcement was published on the official website of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It states, “Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have pledged to work together towards a balanced and sustainable peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, agreeing that such an agreement would contribute to regional stability, cooperation, and prosperity.” This statement was made in connection with the seventh meeting of the Turkey-US Strategic Mechanism.

It is noteworthy that in 2022, Yerevan and Baku began discussions on a peace treaty under the mediation of Russia, the US, and the European Union. In late May 2023, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Yerevan was ready to recognize Azerbaijan's sovereignty within the Soviet borders, including Nagorno-Karabakh.
